Car still jerks after replacement of valve cover gasket

Hello, I recently replaced a valve gasket on ‘06 Corolla 225k I wanted to thank everyone who replied to my questions. Before replacement of valve gasket had issues oil leaking into spark plugs and in ignition coil, and some oil around the engine bay where the valve gasket is, after replacement of valve gasket, I still have same issues as before car jerks all the time like it’s about to die, but no oil leak, can it be from oil inside ignition coil? I did clean up a little each ignition coil, any ideas what I can use to clean the oil inside each ignition coil? And any suggestions to what causing same issue?

and also after replacement of valve gasket noticed a little smoke from the back side of the engine below the top lid of the engine lid cover, not sure if maybe there we’re drips of oil. Around the top engine lid the valve gasket is visible a little, not sure if that’s how it’s suppose to be or maybe I need to tighten the bolts a little more. Any advices and suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Do a compression test to see if the engine is still good.

spark plugs and other components can be fowled with oil - so if you have good compression (all cylinder are within 15% of the top one), it’s worth replacing the plugs.

maybe (I’m genuinely unsure if those get ruined by oil or not) coils too - but if you are replacing the coils use Denso or OEM (on Toyota the oem is probably denso)

Also if compression is good and it’s not the spark plugs - check the obvious things like, is the air filter clean?, clean the throttle, are the MAP and MAF reading correctly?, is there good fuel pressure,…

if that’s not it, are the injectors spraying the correct amount (there’s a method but it requires tools), and so on…
