[Solved] quarter panel debris

while changing out a blown tail light l dropped the tool I was using to pull the old lightbulb into the crevice of the quarte panel where I discovered it has some mud/gunk in that crevice. tried vacuuming it out but it clogged the shop vac.

so my question is,

could I remove the bumper in order to get to that section and wash/hose it off?

Also I've been trying to understand how or where the gunk came from.  would spilling something/anything in that are be the only possible cause of that or is it possible for outside debris, like dirt/ mud to "FALL into" the quarter panel crevice  car?

the car is a 2012 Subaru Impreza i2.0, I consider it a base model no mods factory nor aftermarket.

Sure! Once in a while I like to remove the trimwork and give the vehicle a thorough clean, to get out all the build up gunk and mildew.

you have to understand that when you're driving down the highway at 70 mph, there is a lot of air moving around the vehicle. It creates various pockets of high and low pressure, which pushes air and rain in various directions and places that you wouldn't expect, like UP against gravity. Perhaps you've seen on a rainy day the way the water swirls up your window behind the sideview mirror. The same thing happens all over the car and you end up with dirty in weird places.

ooh ok, that makes sense. Thank you.

only thing I could think of was if it could be from a hose or something of the sort that I've seen some cars have run through the inside of the trunk between the trunk liner and the paneling.

Again Thank You 👍
