Hi there Scotty I've watched alot of your videos over the last couple of months and am really happy with all the help you are giving everyone . Unfortunately I'm having some problems now with my only vehicle for transportation and have very limited knowledge . If you have advice . I have a chevy sonic 2016 101000 had to get it no choice in the matters . Had it two years no problems. I was sitting at Walmart an my car overheated . I added coolant to full line which wasn't low and added oil because that was very low but still on quarter mark on the dipstick. Let it cool and then tried to drive home after I seen the engine over heating light went off . On the way home the engine light came on and I pulled over immediately had a friend take me to get a reader and it said I had insufficient coolant to the engine . I then left the tool plugged in and drove it home. The ect ran at about 214 to 220 for 20 min .... I have not drove since . If you have any words of wisdom or where to start I would very much appreciate your help. Code p00b7
I just took my post from somewhere else an pasted so who ever helps I would really appreciate it.
Okay 👍 thankyou so much for the advice / tipsÂ

The P00B7 code refers to inadequate coolant flow. Unfortunately it sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. It's hard to say whether this was caused by a coolant leak that caused the engine to overheat, or whether the gasket blew and caused coolant loss and overheating. From what you're saying you are losing both coolant and oil. Not a good sign on the face of it but more diagnosis is needed.
There is a test kit that Scotty has demonstrated that can detect most head gasket failures, and he has also demonstrated finding coolant leaks with UV dye.

Well start with a new thermostat. That's the simple thing. If that doesn't fix it, try my video how to fix an overheating car engine Scotty
