[Solved] Car won’t start.

Hi Scottie, I just recently purchased a used 2007 4x4 Nissan Pathfinder with the V6 and and the automatic transmission. The wife took it to go grocery shopping and when she went to leave it wouldn’t start, would’ve even attempt to crank, even though all the accessories were on. She said the security light was on but continued to try and still no luck. When she got out of the car it started beeping, acting like someone broke into it. We tried unlocking it and locking it and then unlocking it with the key. Still didn’t start. So we tried to reset it by taking the battery cables off, touching them together for 5 mins with the headlight switch on ( learned this trick from your video). Hooked it back up and it still wouldn’t try to start, on top of that the steering wheel locked and we needed to jiggle it all around to unlock it. As a last ditch effort I held the shift unlock button in and put it in neutral and it started right up. Although I’m happy it started I still don’t know why it did all that. Any thoughts? Maybe needs the key fob reprogrammed? Thank you!

Lock the car using the drivers side lock and walk away from the car at least ten feet.

Wait for fifteen minutes and unlock the door with your key fob.

This should reset the security system

That is a strange one the security light being on and not registering park to start are generally unrelated. Does the car have any aftermarket electronics like a remote start or alarm?

The only aftermarket thing it has in it is a simple aftermarket radio. And it had that in it when we purchased it. My wife took the battery out of the key fob and hasn’t had a problem starting it since.
I’m not sure what to make of all of it. Hopefully it doesn’t do it again.

Strange. But I have seen key remotes do strange things. If it doesn’t happen again at least you figured out the problem!
