I have a Saab 9-5 3.0 TiD 2003-07 130kW, diesel
230kms, 5speed manual, v6 Isuzu engine
It always starts in the morning, but when the car warms up, I leave it for an hour or more it cranks but won't start. After a long time like 10hours it will start again...
My guess is fuel pump or injectors. If they haven’t been replaced, they’re probably due. A good diesel mechanic should be able to test them for you.
PS: sounds like quite a car.
Does it at least crank? or is it completely silent when you try to switch it over? If you never turned it off, would it keep running? How is the idle when cold and when warm? Any stored codes?
It cranks, It runs good and no codes
I checked and even though diesel Saabs were never sold in the U.S. the online Saab WIS (Workshop Information System) does cover them. This is the reference the dealers used when Saab was still in business, might be some useful info there:
