When I put the transmission in drive the vehicle will move forward but when I accelerate RPMs go up but the vehicle will not speed up. After a couple minutes it will speed up to normal speed. Will a filter and fluid change fix this?

Doubtful. When is the last time that transmission was serviced?
Unknown only had the vehicle 6 years. Transmission fluid isn’t black it has a pink tinge.
You need a pro with a high-end scan tool that can monitor what's happening inside the transmission.
