Last year I bought a 2014 Toyota Avalon from Carvana. It came with a clean Carfax report, which I downloaded from the Carvana website and saved. A few days ago I decided to trade it in on a 2015 Lexus ES 350 (Avalon had a harsh ride.) The salesperson said, "How bad was the accident?" I said, "That car has never been in an accident. I have the Carfax report." He said, "So do I. Here..." and doggone it, the report from Carfax itself showed a minor accident back in 2019. But the Carvana supplied Carfax said, "No accidents or damage reported to Carfax." And the page that showed the accident was missing. Thought you might find that interesting. I'm happy to share both reports (pdf files) with you if you would like to see them. Not sure if I have any legal recourse at this point, but I'm looking into it.

Note that @peter-b has not been active here since he posted this topic about 5 months ago and will probably not see your post. Also, you will likely find that Carfax makes no guarantee as to the accuracy of its information. On this site we always advise people not to trust it, and to have a good mechanic check for accident damage during the pre-purchase inspection of any used vehicle.
Are you not surprised? Carvana doesn't allow any mechanic to inspect cars before you buy it.
@gabriel_del I am surprised in that they somehow manipulated a Carfax report. When you click on the View Carfax Report button on whatever car you're looking at, it takes you to Carfax.com So, yes I am surprised. Unless it's some sort of internet ruse, I don't know how they scrubbed the accident report from the actual Carfax website.
Peter B. Let's get together on this. Already have an attorney working on this for me. The crazy thing is, are dates align! Purchased a car in 2024 with a clean Carfax that I saved. A few weeks later, it was updated with an accident from 2019. The only need is for Carfax to respond back with when they updated the Carfax with that data. If they updated it prior to me receiving it, we have a case. Hope things work out for you. This might be something the more I find people in my situation.
