In winter (freezing temperatures) the coolant disappears from the reservoir. No leaks are visible.

Does the coolant level in the reservoir reappear when the engine warms up? There are fill lines on most reservoirs for hot and cold levels. When the engine warms up does the coolant expand to the hot level?

If not.

When the engine warms up, fill the reservoir to the hot line and check it again the next day when the engine is at operating temperature. If it is low, you may have an internal coolant leak.

Check engine oil and transmission fluid for signs of coolant contamination.

Perform a combustion leak test to check for exhaust gasses getting into the cooling system. (Headgasket)
