Chain rattling when driving slow

Scotty, Hi... I have a 1988 GMC SIERRA C-1500, with a rebuilt (2012) 1st generation sbc 350 from a 69 Camaro. The transmission is a remanned (2018) Getrag 129r five speed manual. OD does not work.

On a nice day, when cruising through town at a slow speed, 3rd or 4th gear, windows down... From the passenger side I hear what sounds like a small chain dragging and bouncing on the pavement. I have looked several times and there is nothing hanging or dragging from underneath. It is not a squeak or rattle. What am I hearing? Thanks, Freddie

there's only one way to find stuff like that... search.

crawl underneath and test everything for loose bits. Exhaust hangers, heat shields, cables, wires, etc...

Jack each wheel up in the air and give it spin and listen again.

You just have to replicate the sound in a controlled way.

well if the speed is slow enough, drive past a friend who's watching closely or jogging alongside
