Hi Scotty,
I recently purchased a 2016 Camry with around 110 K. I'm now reading that the 2.5L engine in this car is notorious for oil burning starting around this mileage. I've been reading that instead of 10 K oil changes with the 0w20, they suggest 5000 K instead with 5w30 oil. It's supposed to help with oil piston burning and wearing out prematurely as well as to reduce vvti rattle which can be an indicator of later engine problems. Thanks.

Who are "they"?
"They" are half right. Oil changes should certainly be done at 5K miles. I'd think though that at this point with 110K miles on that car damage has already been done if thus far it has only received oil changes at 10K mile intervals.
You should only use 5W30 oil if Toyota lists that as an acceptable choice for that engine. Otherwise you can mess up the hydraulic variable valve timing mechanism which. Consult your owner's manual.
Thanks. I'll have to take a look at the carfax to see. I always change at 5 K. Engine seems to be running fine and no oil consumptions issues as of yet.
