Changing out car battery

This has probably been asked before but when changing out a weak battery would it be wise to to plug in one of hose 12v battery paks into your cigarette lighter so your electronics keep a charge so you don’t have to reprogram any of the computer systems? I’ve seen guys hook battery paks to the cables themselves but it looks a little cumbersome so I thought running the adapter to the cig lighter might be an easier option. What do you guys think?

A lot of those memory savers plug into the OBD2 port instead of cigarette lighter. Unless the car is pre-OBD2 (you didn't say what you have) that should always work since the power line on that port is always active.

Yes, that is a good idea. They're called. Alive memory. But of course you have to find out if your car has a cigarette lighter socket that is live when the car is turned off because if it's not live when the car is turned off that won't save anything
