Hey Scotty,
I have a 2011 lexus is250 awd. 193km
I brought it to a garage to have the transmission inspected and a hole in my pipe fixed. They did a great job on the pipe and my transmission is in good shape, although the fluid is old. Damned past owners didnt replace or flush the tranny before I received the car.
Anyways, I’m pulling out of the place at their closing time and noticed the check engine light and hill departure assist/slip traction assist light are on. I pulled over to turn off the car to see if the lights would turn off. They didnt. I dont have a code sensor tool, and I know the engine is in immaculate condition as i just had it evaluated, put in new plugs and coils, oil is brand new, air box is brand new and the injectors were also cleaned.
So my question is, do you think this is a serious issue? Car literally runs like its brand new. Either way i’m calling these shmucks to have the issue investigated because there were no lights on when the car went in. I know these mechanics have a rep for being super honest and do quality work so I don’t think they snipped a wire on the way out. Maybe they just didnt reset the codes after reinstalling the 02 sensors? Could be a million and one things.
whats your take?
Adam-
Not really possible to tell what's going on if it hasn't been scanned for codes since this started happening. Even if the engine is mechanically immaculate it's possible for sensors and electronics to fail.
Take it back but give them a chance to make it right. We all make mistakes.
