Why is it that when I drive at high speeds like on a highway/freeway, my check engine light comes on? What causes it to turn on? Because when I drive around my city, the light doesn’t come on at all (This is on a 1995 6 Speed Manual Transmission Z28 Camaro by the way).

There are many different codes when the light is on you would have to get it scanned to see what the code is I can't guess because there's too many possibilities without the code number
Do you know what type of code reader I should get because all I know is that OBD-II scanners don’t work on a 1995 Camaro and I’m not sure what scanner will work. Thanks for the help.
