I currently own a 2013 Chevy Malibu with 106k miles. I know my time of carefree car troubles are coming to an end especially with a GM. We are currently researching the Honda Insight (yes, I know Toyota is the best and y’all don’t like hybrids) but I am wondering if this Honda will be a little more reliable than a GM.
I usually recommend Toyota Hybrids over any other hybrid, even Honda. Toyota has 20 years of time tested hybrid technology. Prius technology has made it across their entire fleet.
However Honda has a compelling hybrid technology, with the latest Insight. It is their third attempt at creating a hybrid system, and it is significantly different than their Honda predecessors, and even Toyota. Honda predecessors weren’t necessarily bad in terms of quality. They just weren’t as popular as Toyota’s technology.
Current generation Honda Hybrids are basically an EV but get its power from gasoline. Very fascinating. it only switches to the ICE for propulsion at highway speeds, which at the point is more efficient than the hybrid electric motor.
If it is was any other company I probably wouldn’t give it a second look, but it is Honda, a company known for quality and longevity.
Toyota Hybrids usually split the duty of propelling the vehicle between the ICE and the electric motor.
If you want tried and true, go with a Toyota Hybrid.
If you are willing to take a chance, go with the Honda Hybrid. Heck, drive them both and see what you like better.
We are going to test drive one in a couple of days. There’s some pros and cons but I have read from consumers that it’s a underrated car. It’s also has a decent sticker price as well.
I would take a Honda over GM on any given day. Hybrids do have their own issues but I would trust a Honda hybrid much more than GM cars. Also, if you're wanting a hybrid the Toyota Prius is a really good option too.
Yea but those insights look way pretty sharp. Thank you though!
Just as Kaizen mentioned both are good cars, so it is a matter of personal preference and also whether you want to try something new or something which has been made for 20 years of tested technology. But whichever one you pick Honda and Toyota make good cars.
Thank you both. I knew that my next car would be a Mazda, Honda or Toyota but never thought I would consider a hybrid. I’ll update y’all when I make a decision. Thank y’all again!
