I was given a 2003 Cavalier. Recently it has been giving me problems starting. The engine also smells hot. The tow truck guy told me it sounds like a sensor. My Nissan didn’t have one. But the last time it refused to start the coolant light came on & I waited till I got home (not wanting to burn myself) to add more coolant. Could that be the reason? And If I go out & it starts, can I trust it with short trips, like 1/2 mile to the grocery store?
This car has fantastic fuel mileage that my Nissan did not have. Is there a way to plug it up to a machine to check it if I don’t have a computer hookup? I have a usb. It has a new battery.
Great help! But I’m a 63 year old woman & am scared to work on cars. I can get my backyard mechanic over here to try those ideas. Since I have a new battery. Thanks for the help.
