Why is it that this motor has a history of letting coolant pass into the oil? How does this happen & is it true? If I find alittle in my oil, is that the usually the problem? 116,000mi

Docs right, and those 3.1's are known to have issues with their headgaskets.

It's a major problem because it indicates a blown head gasket or a cracked block, usually.

It happens because they are poorly designed and built.

How do any problems happen? Same reason as always ... Someone dropped the ball and didn't do a good enough job.
