Hi Scotty,
I was gifted a 2012 Chevy Silverado light duty 1500 with less than 50,000miles on it. I just moved to the north west and we got our first snow of the year. I used 4 wheel drive for the last 2 days but something didn't feel right when I was in 4high there was a deep whining sound coming from the front of the vehicle when I would turn and accelerate/decelerate. Hadn't used the 4 wheel drive much at all just once when i was checking the vehicle out when I got it. I checked the vehicle with my cheapinnova 5110 code reader. Don't have any codes. Except an abs code(C0900) I don't think that has anything to do with the noise but thought I'd mention it in case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Carter
are the driveline fluids all topped up?
any leaks or play in the driveline components?
Make sure you are not turning on dry pavement when in 4WD. Without a center differential you'd be binding up the entire drivetrain. The front and rear tires turn at different speeds and something has to give.
