GMC SIERRA 1500 SLE V-8 year 2000 mileage 220,000
Hello, this old truck has to have the brakes completely redone, probably including the master cylinder and to make it worse the fuel tank needs to be replaced. A hole was drilled into it, would repairing be a safe option or dangerous? Several questions, do you think it is even worth it since this will run over 3G, where can I find a fuel tank because the only one I can find is a Liland and it costs about 1200.00, much of the under carriage is rusted. If we sold for parts what is a fair price. Thank youappreciate any insights. We have in shop and must make a call soon.
Try the other major auto suppliers with the correct VIN - O'Reilly's, Advance, NAPA, etc.
ok, thanks, will do....
A hole was drilled into it
stick a plug in it
where can I find a fuel tank
the junkyard

call around to a few recyclers and see who will give you the most.
Sounds reasonable.....
If it's a rust bucket I would not put thousands of dollars of repairs into it.
I hear you, but by the time they finish with all the new parts that would be a non issue, lol.
Your gas tank is available from AutoZone for about $500.
thanks, let me go check that out, I have had several tanks look to be ok and then they were not.
wont let me add to cart?
OK, this is what keeps happening, I get inconsistent info. Trying to actually help somebody else, it isnt my truck. I put the Vin in on Autozone and the specs and it brings up a tank that isnt even available because I cant add to my cart, and it is for 37 gallons and Meinike is telling me it has to be a 26 gallon tank. SO which is right. Here is autozones tank

My relative who owns the truck, I am helping him because he is sick now, he said that this tank NEVER took more than 24 gallons, but when I put the VIN # in on numerous sites it is saying I need a 37 gallon tank. Meinike told me I needed a tank that was 26 gallons. These tanks are over 1000.00 if you can even find one, the prices range from 150.00-1000.00. The brakes are out and Meinike says they really dont want to do the brakes until the fuel tank issue is resolved, probably brakes alone will be about 1500.00. It would still be useful if we can get it fixed ut this fuel tank thing, I cant believe I get told so many different sizes because this is a fairly common truck. I pride myself a bit on getting to the nitty gritty and so glad I didnt order the tank I was told to get now. ANybody have a truck like this
Thank you all, and tanks Scotty for the platform and your channel.
