Chevy Impala 2001

Hello! so whenever I put my 2001 Chevy Impala in reverse, there is a half a second delay then it jolts pretty hard but it sounds like a knock. It didn’t do this a few months back but the car has mostly been sitting there since this whole pandemic started. Could it be the motor mounts that are giving out? or just transmission going bad? My car also has a power steering fluid leak for a while now but idk if that would have anything to do with it. ty

You could try the mounts but my guess would be the transmission itself. A 2001 Impala isn't really worth anything, so instead of trying to sell it I would just keep driving it while reverse is still working. If reverse ever does stop working one option would be to avoid backing up and if you do have to just put it in neutral and push it back.

yes. both of those are possibilities. Watch Scotty's videos about how to check motor mounts.
