Chevy Sonic transmission and timing chain service

Hi Scotty, I have a 2014 Chevy Sonic, 1.4L Turbo, automatic, with 71,000 miles. I am not sure if the dealer changed the transmission fluid as I was not driving the car then, when should the transmission fluid be changed, and when should timing chains be serviced?

Change the transmission fluid. If I had to bet, I'd say they serviced the car as minimally as possible and credit the "lifetime" transmission fluid crap as to why.

Timing chains never need to be serviced, providing you maintain adequate oil levels and don't rag the car to death.

As @justin-shepherd pointed out, timing chains don't need to be changed out UNLESS you hear a rattling noise on the cold start of the engine for a few seconds.  This usually indicates that the chain tensioner is failing which will necessitate the replacement of the timing chain kit.
