Chinese Blower Motors OK?

Hello again, it seems like the blower on my 2000 S500 gave out, the brushes seem to be at the end of the road. I found blower units on eBay for about $30-40 bucks but they are unbranded. I know that blower regulators shouldn't be bought from China but what about the actual blower motor itself? The only thing I really care about is that it doesn't start on fire 😆 😉

Knowing Chinese quality for anything, I personally would be surprised if it didn't catch on fire.

$30 from eBay ... that's going to be the finest Chinesium rubbish money can buy. You'll be lucky if you get a year out of it.

Unless you are chinese like me and know a guy that knows a guy that can hook you up. Don't try it lol.

Shanzhai, am I right? 😆

Close enough 🤣

I wouldn't trust anything Chinese made as far as I could throw honestly. I'm no expert but I think it would be a safe bet just to buy the factory-made one.

I would rather avoid paying $600+ for a genuine MB part :silly: 😆

That's fine. A blower motor shouldn't cost $600. Find one for $100-200 that at least has a company name on it. But the $30 special from ebay ... you might as well throw it straight into the garbage.

Is there an electrical shop near you that can rebuilt the original blower motor? With new brushes and bearings it might well last another 20+ years.

I'm planning on selling the car within the next month.

$30-$40 and unbranded?  I definitely would not risk using the blower motor from that.  Spend more and get a decent, branded one.
