Hello, I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX with the CVT transmission. It's hard to imagine a car this old having one but it's cool because when you floor it, the transmission stays pinned at 5900 rpm. The car has 195,000 miles, how much life do you think it has left?

I never heard of Honda using CVT transmissions back then. Hi da was better with CVT transmissions so it will probably last a while yet.

Thats a tiny car. If it lasted 200k miles, who knows how long more it would last. I hope you are keeping up on ATF changes. Hard to believe the CVT in those would last longer than the troublesome 4 speed automatics in the next generation.

Like Scotty says, Honda is amazing at motorcycles and continues this trend of stellar engineering in their small cars. Its certain Honda is more evolutionary in their designs than revolutionary.

Its hard to tell how much longer such an old vehicle would last, as after a decade or so reliability falls down for to the owner's maintenance, driving habits/conditions, and luck.

And I wish you the best of luck.
