Hi 🙂 I sometimes watch auto maintenance videos by you, and really enjoy them 😉 .
I own a 2013 2.0 Mazda3 automatic. At my last transmission oil+filter change at 160 000km. my mechanic told me there was A LOT of sludge covering the magnet in the transmission pan. Car drives great! On a rare time when the car is in 2nd gear(automatic) the will go past 3000rpm for a loong time before actually coming back down. Sometimes I would realease the gas pedal to make the car slow in hopes the gears would correct itself. My question is: Should I put half-quart LUCAS transmission and drain half-quart ATF to lengthen transmission lifetime. Against the dealer's remarks, saying ONLY to use the dealer provided transmission fluid, NO extra additives, as it's in the ATF. Please give me your feedback, as I want to put in some LUCAS transmission fix. Just recently I've been hearing positve remarks about lubegard.
email address removed. we don't want it.
I wouldn't risk it if the transmission is still performing reasonably well. If it ever gets to the point where it is just barely going down the road then you can try it just in case it works.
Additives are always a last resort. You could try it, but just know it's not a magic bullet and may not work.
