Is the chrysler pentastar V6 really that bad of an engine? I saw two instants of its reliability: A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan with 287,000 miles; original motor and transmission and a 2014 RAM Promaster Van with over 600,000 miles; also original motor and transmission.
They aren’t bad motors, especially after the first few production years. They’re like the hemi: the problem isn’t the engine, it’s the electricals around it.
One credit I give FCA, the HEMI line and the Pentastar motor they worked out he kinks and left it alone for the most part. As above said the electronic parts are dollar tree specials my opinion unless you want all that fancy you probably will never figure out how to use just get the lowest trim packages and drive the vehicle.
PentaStar V6's are pretty much known as poor motors with oil leak issues.
I don't recommend them. Just because a motor is generally known to be bad, does not mean that they were ALL bad.
