Hehy modman this one is for you. I need you advice with my 2021 Honda Civic limited Type R. I saw one of your post you owned it or had it.
From where and what kind of fuel should I get
How often should I change my oil and which one should I get
What tires should I get
When should I change coolant
When should I change transmission fluid
How should get more performance out of my car with out damaging the engine and body
And if possible can you provide me the links or the picture of product
Thankyou .
Civic type R is my baby and I wanna keep it for rest of my life and maintain so I needed your advice
Well I do not own a Type R. I actually have a 2020 Accord 2.0T with the 10-speed and a 2021 Ridgeline HPD.
However, the Civic Type R is a great car. I just don't fit it. Lol. But if you want to keep it running great and make it last for the longest amount of time, I would leave it stock and maintain it per the manual.
Tires are a preference...I like Pirellis but everyone knows what ride they like/what road noise they like, etc. Just stay away from used ones and Chinese junk.
As for fuel, I only use Shell fuels. They have excellent additives and burn very clean. In the Type R, you can use anything from Regular to Premium. Honda recommends Premium for the best performance, but if you are daily driving in traffic regular will work just as good and save you a few pennies, especially right now. If you don't like Shell, Chevron also makes good gas and Techron is a good additive too. I just swear by Shell.
For all other maintenance, just follow the manual. Problems come when people either neglect maintenance items or try to stretch their oil changes out. I would go 5k miles/1year on full synthetic oil, whichever comes first, and go with factory recommended service for the rest of the items.
Regarding performance, you can get more out of it but you sacrifice warranty and reliability. That's up to you. I think it has a lot of punch as it is and unless you want to turbo it, there's not a whole lot that's worth the money to do.
I hope you enjoy it. They are awesome cars. And thanks for asking me directly on this. {black}
@yaser Always happy to help where possible.
Thanks mod man your the best and I use shell back when I had SI 2011 my friend recommended me to use premium gas from shell and I still have SI with 300000 miles everything factory stock except for some body modification like led lights and new spoiler and music light insight still running like new
One more can you recommend me all season sports tire for my type r last last year it snowedin texas so I don't trust mother nature over here much appreciated
@mod_man I thought that the SI and Type R already have turbos.
Si has a vtec not turbo but civic type r has a turbo and vtec in exhaust
@billybob, @carljason98
mod_man will be away from the forum for a little while so he can't answer questions atm, but he has assured me that he'll be back real soon. He asked me to tell everyone that he's not ignoring you, and to hold tight.
@carljason98 pretty sure the SI is also turbocharged.
Si is not turbocharged I own it and drive. Unless you install turbo charger that is whole another story and thx for the update mountainmanjoe
@CarlJason98 which model year is your Si?
My SI is 2011
@mountainmanjoe Thanks. @CarlJason98 @billybob The new Civic Si and Civic Type R are both turbocharged from the factory. What I was referencing was going with a bigger turbo to increase horsepower. Now, back in 2011, the Si was not turbocharged. Personally I like the turbo models more because of the extra power. I typically will trade longevity for the joy of driving a fun car, but everyone has their own priorities. As for fuel, Shell is the way to go. I'm glad I could help you out with your questions.
