Scotty, I recently purchased a 1988 Lincoln Town Car base model with 113,000 miles on it as my first project car to give me and my dad something to work on together. We have just recently replaced the starter with a brand new non-Remanufactured Bosch brand starter and took a look at the Flex plate, which appeared to be in good condition but the car still has a little trouble starting up on the first key turn, sometimes it starts right up, sometimes it doesn't but you can still hear the starter turning on. Any idea on what's going on there? Also any other advice for that year 5.0 engine would be much appreciated. Thanks Scotty!
Old lots of stuff can make it start hard of course change the spark plugs the air filter the fuel filter if that doesn't fix it it could be a weak fuel pump that you could pressure test or dirty fuel injectors that you can have a mechanic pressure clean. Always start simple and work your way up if needed
