My car just started losing power took it to the dealer shop and they told me my Catalytic converter was disconnected so they recommend I replace the catalytic converter and my gasket charging $3,000 a little over price. Looking to see if it's worth fixing?, definitely taking it to somewhere else.
If your catalytic converter were "disconnected" you would know it because the exhaust noise would be extremely loud. What gasket are they talking about? A car has many gaskets.
Dealers are to be avoided for anything other than warranty work or recalls. Their service writers are commissioned sales people and are motivated to upsell and charge as much as possible, in some cases blatantly ripping people off. You should be going elsewhere, preferably a good independent mechanic. (Avoid dealers and chains shops.)
@chucktobias the dealership told me was that the catalytic converter is clogged up that's what's slowing down my car that I need to replace it and that they mention also somehow an oil change when I had done it recently with a different engine filter due to a K&N third-party filter. I also took your advice went with my mechanic and he said he's going to check if I can just clean it and be good or if I need to replace the part that's also maybe the air fuel sensor is dirty as well
