Clear coat peeling on my 2012 Jeep Liberty.

I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport and the clear coat on the hood and roof is now starting to peel. The stray cats sleeping on my hood don't help matters either. They like to stretch out with their claws. Is there any way I can fix this problem out cheaply without getting a whole new paint job. Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. Panels with failed clearcoat need to be stripped and repainted if you're concerned about appearance.

I don't know anything about car paint, but I can say that my Lexus IS220D was given a coat of 'Supagard' 8 years before I bought it and I was doing 70mph on the motorway, and flung up a reflective eye (I know because I saw it missing the following day) from the front wheel which dented the wheel arch on the rear, but didn't damage the paint or coating.

Car is 17 years old and paint looks new. So might be worth considering if you do all the preparation first and should hold up against randy cats making out on your car. 😆

Edit. Although I shouldn't get smart because it didn't protect my paint against the pidgeon poop. 😡
