- Hey Scotty,
- I have a 1989 Cadillac Brougham with 112,000 miles, automatic trans. I’ve been using this as my daily driver. I got my windshield defroster working a few months back and now sometimes when I turn it on i have to wait 20 minutes or more before I can hear a pop under the dash and it starts working. Any guess why?

After 32 years, all the plastic parts are going to be falling apart.
The vacuum source lines to your climate control get brittle from the engine heat and crumble and leak. Replace them all. And the vacuum tank, and the checkvalves and fittings. It won't be an easy job.
Thank you for your response, as far as I know all of my vacuum hoses have all been replaced.
tanks can leak, and the rubber inside the checkvalves goes bad too.
If you still have an issue, you'll probably have to pull apart the kick panels. The air diverter door could be distorted and getting stuck, or the actuator valve is worn out. Or the control knob panel itself is worn out.
