Do I need to buy a vehicle specific code reader for my car?

I read some reviews on amazon that lead me to believe that buying a code reader that has to be for your specific

brand of vehicle. Example, say Toyota. Is that true? Also they said the reader is only good for one vehicle and if you

want to use it on a different vehicle, you have to pay to use, that reader, on another different vehicle. Is that true?

No, it is not true. (At least for 1996 and newer vehicles equipped with OBD2.)

Just email the manufacturer of the scanner which you plan to buy and ask if their product offers support for your specific vehicle/s.
