2003 Silverado 4.8L with 230200 miles. I get a ticking sound which sounds be like it could be a collapsed lifter or something. After I do an oil change it goes away for awhile and comes back. Can I continue driving the truck like that? What are my options here? Thanks.

Before getting carried away, diagnose the issue. Ticking could be a bad fuel injector or other things.

You can drive it until you can't. If the lifters are bad, the engine will gradually self destruct.

Ask a competent mechanic to diagnose the issue. If the engine is worn out, then price out a replacement, but it probably isn't worth it.
Start looking for a replacement vehicle and drive it into the ground I guess.
