I was looking at cars in the Dallas area or in the Bay area in California. I really would like to get her something that's decent looking and reliable that will get her through college. I was considering olde Lexus or tc Scion. I'm really not sure were to look or how to vet out. Any suggestions would be great
Lexus is a luxury car which has a lot more to potentially go wrong with it as it ages versus a simpler vehicle. A Toyota, Scion (which is a Toyota), or Honda would be a better bet, of course avoiding models with known serious problems.
how to vet out.
I'm not familiar with this expression. Definitely bring any candidate vehicles to a competent mechanic for mechanical appraisal BEFORE purchase. Lexus are more expensive in upkeep. Toyota/Scion/Honda are mostly fine. Do you research for recalls etc. and carcomplaints.com
