Communication Error

Scotty,

I own a 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE minivan that we have had troubles with since about 6 months after purchase.  At first it would not start in cold temps.  A YouTube solution was to put a space heater on the floorboard of the front passenger side to warm some control.  Believe it or not it worked.  More recently we changed the radio from factory to a basic aftermarket Bluetooth radio.  Now, most of the time, the van will not start.  I have changed the battery, alternator, and have considered changing the fuel pump.  Talks with Toyota mechanics revealed that they are having trouble communicating with the vans ECM.  Any thoughts?

So if the communication is the issue, you can not do too much about it. You should take the car to a mechanic who knows electronic a lot and ask him to check the electrical problem you have with the car.

I believe there was a video where Scotty mentioned the Bluetooth radio signals causing issues. Could this be the cause?

I don’t recall it.

Assuming the issue is related to the new radio, unplug it’s fuse in the fuse box and check if you still have the issue.
