I just put a conditional deposit down on a Lexus last night and now I am just vetting other options I might have not looked at. One being the Acura MDX. Just wondering if anyone in the community has had time with either of these vehicles in depth to give their opinion? I'm looking for a new vehicle that is comfortable to drive, decent power and handling, and lastly, be able to fit into a tight Downtown parking spot regularly! I think the MDX is bigger and I haven't driven a new one recently. The Rx is a pretty good size but a little more room wouldn't be a bad thing. The 3rd row seating is not big deal for me; better sound system is though!
Thank you kindly in advance for listening to my ramble.
The Lexus would be my choise the Acura is a bit more risky because of the transmission
I’m with the Lexus, just a beautiful piece of machinery.
sleep good tonight knowing you did the right thing.quite honestly, both a good choices, I’m just a big fan of the Lexus, because they can last forever.
enjoy,
Both are great vehicles IMHO. When it comes close, I go to other features, that can put one over the top.
One of the kickers for me is which one would come with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
How long are you going to keep it and do you anticipate putting well beyond 100,000 miles on it?
This is the vehicle I'm talking about. I lose android because that comes out in 2020. The price difference is like $15K for 1 year newer and I don't think I can justify that. This seems to have the top trim level and the mark levinson sound which is is pretty sweeet. Big sunroof too. Was meh on the colour at first but it is now growing on me. Atomic Silver eh?
As for usage, I kept my last car for 18 years. I don't think Im going to be as faithful this time round. I do like, however, the option of doing so. I'm sure I'll keep this around for at least 5 years and I like my cars to be trouble free hence the reason I chose Lexus. This one has warranty until 2023ish I believe.
Between those 2, I would stick with the Lexus. The 2019 Acura MDX (the non-hybrid versions) come with the 3.5L V6 which has cylinder deactivation that adds complexity and could cause engine wear/failure. No automaker has successfully been able to implement this technology, and Toyota/Lexus don’t even use it at all. Second, the engine is direct injection only so is more susceptible to carbon buildup. The Lexus has neither of these issues with its engine. Finally, the transmission in the Acura (again non-hybrid version) is ZF’s 9-speed transmission. This is more gears than in the Lexus and I trust the Aisin transmission in the Lexus better than the ZF one in the Acura for minimal fuss and longetivity.
Daywalker,
The lexus does seem like the safer choice and I think I will keep it. Thank you again for your advice; If you recall, I was debating between a GLC or older Rx and you steered me right.. This 2019 was one I could not pass up.
Thank you as well to Oneimich and Kaizen for their input as well! I will sleep better tonight lol.
TBH, I’d drive either one. I think you made a good choice.
