Hello Scotty! I am currently searching for a reliable commuter car that will get me from point A to point B under $6,000. I am only considering Toyota products. Which specific models should I consider and which mileage requirement should I stick to? For example, should I stick with Corollas that are under 150,000 miles etc. Also, I love your videos and I hope you have a happy holiday season in your new home.
Hello, not scotty but here's my piece of advice. You are not looking persay for milage but more for how well the car was maintained. I've seen toyotas fail all because the owner never changed the oil and thought that was okay. Or never fixing a leak until it was already too far gone. What I would suggest is though milage matters to a degree, be sure the car has some sort of history or if not, bring it to an independent mechanic and give the car a long test drive to check all the boxes. If the person doesn't allow you to bring it to a mechanic, walk away from that deal as they are more than likely hiding something. Also also, I would personally avoid hybrids or fully electric as 150k+ is danger zone for battery deterioration.
Given your very low budget, limiting yourself to any one make of car is a mistake. There's nothing magic about Toyota, they break down like anything else.
