Hi Scotty,

I'm looking for a compact pick up with a 6 cylinders (no turbo) for 2021.  Wich model on the market would be the better?  I'm looking toward The Chevy Colorado Z71.  Is it a good choice?.  And i dpn't need to tow a lot.

Thank you.  Love your videos.

Unfortunately the only good compact pickup if you are buying brand new is the Toyota Tacoma. The Ford Ranger is decent overall but unfortunately, for whatever reason, it is only available with the Ecoboost engine. If you can't afford the Tacoma your best bet is probably the Nissan Frontier.

Toyota Tacoma is the only reliable pickup truck. Don't buy Chevy Colorados, GMC Canyons, or Ford Rangers cause they have a lot of issues later on. Also, don't buy the Honda Ridgelines and Frontiers causes of the new 9 speed automatic transmission.

I would say, if you can afford it, get a Toyota Tacoma. If you are going used or can't afford a new Tacoma, I would recommend the Nissan Frontier. I wouldn't recommend any lower segment truck from the big three.

The Frontiers are decent except they have the new 9 speed automatic.

Better than the CVTs they put in their passenger cars. If going used, the engine+transmission is ancient so its farely reliable and resale value is less. Nissan makes decent conventional automatics especially in their RWD cars and trucks.

@Kerem Oh yeah I forgot lol.

Go with the Toyota Tacoma, otherwise settle for a Nissan Frontier but for that go with 2019 MY or older (since 2020+ MY Frontier had newer engine and 9-speed AT, but 2019 MY or older was true and tried).
