Just bought a 2018 Toyota Camry SE

Thanks to Scottys admiration for Toyota. And the fact I trust Scotty. We needed a good dependable daily driver. Yesterday, we bought a 2018 Toyota Camry SE, 39,000 miles. One owner vehicle. Is there any issues we might want to address before we have the issue? We will definitely take care of it. Regular oil changes and we will do the transmission service at 60,000 miles and continue that. Will the dealer give us a hard time about getting transmission fluid and filter changed at that interval?

They are great vehicles but watch out for transmission issues that was the first year of the 8 speed automatic and you might experience stuff like shuddering and hesitation.

Also if it hasn't gotten it yet make sure it has already done the fuel pump recall that toyota put out for 2018+ models

Just follow the recommended maintenance schedule and you'll be fine. Congratulations on the purchase.

They finally fixed the transmission hesitation with a software update, so make sure it has the most up-to-date software. Follow the recommended maintenance intervals. Don't know your dealer, but I know our Toyota dealer and it wouldn't be a problem; can't answer if yours will baulk at the transmission drain/fill. So you'll have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

Thank you all for the advice.

Just follow service schedule, but probably also do oil changes ahead of schedule. Toyota says to do oil changes every 10k miles but I stay on the safe side and do it every 5k miles. Also check and see if the software was updated for that transmission. I got a 2019 Camry SE (basically the same car) and I’m loving it

Great move!

Just be sure to watch the Transmission but I think they fixed the issue, BE SURE TO UPDATE IT IF SO!

Good luck
