[Solved] Company Sent Me 0w-30 Instead of 5w-30 Engine Oil?

Hi Folks,

I bought Mobil1 engine oil 5W-30 and they sent me 0W30. On the Mobil website: https://www.mobil.co.uk/en-gb/products/engine-oils/mobil-1/ it doesn't stae much difference in the properties of the oil, so I'm assuming that that difference is just that it's more slippy (is that the right word?) at lower temperatures.

Also on that site it recommends using 0W-30 for may car. A Lexus IS220D (diesel). But these search tool things are garbage. The Halfords one says that even the 5W30 is the wrong one for my car. It's about £20 more expensive, but they charged me for the cheaper grade.

I was thinking of using it, going for an Italian tuneup and then changing it for the regular Toyota oil. I hear that Toyota oil is Mobil1 oil anyway. Or I could just throw it away and fertilize some grass. 🙄

Thanks

nice, you got better oil for a cheaper price. 👍  I think the word you're looking for is viscosity, and yes the 0w30 flows better when cold.

fertilize some grass

yes it's packed full of nutritious vitamins, minerals and dinosaurs 😆

Much appreciated. Looks like I can keep it.
