Great video. I just watched this and wondered if all three cars have the same transmissions. I am driving 2001 Avalon, and I recall that this generation was more of a stripped-down Lexus and had the Lexus' stainless steel transmission, which was a plus. First, I do not know if the story about a stainless steel trans is true, but I have 399,450 on the original engine and trans., but I am looking to upgrade to a newer vehicle - LOL - it is old enough to vote and almost old enough to hold office. If I stay within the Avalon/Lexus/Camry group, are there any safety or long term reliability issues to consider? I am also considering the Subaru Crossfit or Forrester. Perhaps a 2016-2019 model. Thoughts?
If you get the Subaru, you'll get a CVT transmission. I would not recommend those because although the newer ones are better, they aren't built for longevity.

You'll be fine if you go for the Avalon or Camry. You may end up paying a little bit more for the Lexus.
