Topic starter
Hi there,
I want to do a compression test on my lexus es 300, but my battery is disconnected, the transmission is only partially installed and I am not sure if the starter is connected
Can I still do a compression test? If not, how else can I tell if my engine is strong without being able to turn on the engine?
Thanks

You need to be able to crank the engine to do a compression test. However you could do a leakdown test, turning the engine over by hand as needed to check each cylinder.

Scotty says you can't do it with a starter but you can turn it by hand 3 revolutions for each cylinder at 4:32

He says you can do it manually
My bad, he said with a crank.
