Hey Scotty,
I've got a 2017 Hyundai Sonata GLS with the *beloved* 2.4L GDI engine and an automatic transmission (apparently the Canadian trim levels are unique to Canada). The manual advises to change the coolant after 5 years or 96,000 km, and then every 2 years after that. **Why every two years? Do they assume folks are changing to old school green coolant or what?!
Thanks!
For longevity of your engine. Coolants are cheap and engine repair is not.
I check my coolant once a year with the float meter that shows freezing and boiling protection and change it when protection begins to decrease. Available for a couple of bucks at any auto supply store. I have never had a problem with "old school" green coolant for 50 years, or whatever is on sale.
