hi Scotty, I love your videos.

I bought, a week ago, a 2001 Toyota Corolla automatic with 223,000 km from a private party.

i put Gumout all-in-one fuel system cleaner in a ¼ tank then I filled it after it was empty.after filling the gas tank I started to have the following code P0441 (evaporative emission control system incorrect purge flow), and now even with half tank the code comes back, I changed the gas cap but it didn't change anything.

I noticed that it had an extra liter of oil in the engine, when I removed the extra to reach the maximum level I started to have this code : P1349 (VVT system malfunction Bank 1), I flushed the engine (oil filter changed) then I changed the solenoid (oil control valve), the code came back after a day.

the last 3 days i also get the P0171 code (system too lean. fuel trim).

I cleaned the MAF sensor, I changed the air filter.

the gas tank seems to have been dropped, the last owner said that sometimes the check engine turns on and off by itself.

Thank you so much for your help and for sharing all your knowledge. 😉

I would concentrate on a vacuum leak in the engine, look around and listen to any hissing sound. Could be a broken hose, bad gasket, etc. You also have some very popular emission codes, not especially common on Toyota’s, but with its current mileage, quite possible. Check the canister, vent solenoid, and purge valve. Heck I would just replace them given the year and mileage. These are pretty simple repairs and not that expensive if you do it yourself. The car has life it, you just have to get these issues addressed, but it’s not that bad,

Thank you for your quick response.

I found on Internet that the evap canister is around the fuel tank and the purge solenoid is around the mass air flow sensor but where is located the vent solenoid please ?

And what about the p1349 ? any ideas ? please.

thank you.

The vent cannister/solenoid is underneath the car near the gas tank.
