Corrosion in distributor

Hi Scotty.

I need your opinion on applying a very thin layer of corrosion preventative compound SP-400 on a new Distributor pole piece of my 1990 K1500 5.7L OEM Distributor. The old one still works but I don't want the new one to rust like the old one. The vent at the bottom of the distributor is clear and everything else looks great. I would not be spraying the pole piece, just using very small paint brush. Your reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

use dielectric grease which is intended for electrical parts.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I appreciate it.
