Good morning, Sir. I have a question about my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer, 4.2 6-inline, with 265,000+ miles on it. We bought in new with @30 miles back in December 2004. So, within last two years I have replaced gear box, front suspension, AC compressor, and water pump, tires have 50K left on them; but now, looks like it has a bad oil pump. Air pressure sensor replaced and still goes to 0 psi.
Well actually two questions:
1) what would the cost of overhauling existing engine vs the cost of engine replacement be on this vehicle.
2) is it worth it for this car? it is no longer a daily driver for us. However, i feel like it can run for another 200K miles with all the repaired mentioned done on it, maybe!
Thanks in advance for your response! L A Rojas

We have no idea what shops in your area are charging. Get some quotes.
Another factor is that modern engines are so complex that it is very difficult for a shop to properly rebuild them. A factory remanufactured engine with a good warranty is preferable.

It's probably not worth sinking thousands of dollars into a 20-year-old Trailblazer that may well develop other expensive problems, but that's a judgement call that only you can make.
