Trying to talk people out of buying a convertible is a waste of your breath and time. Just send the cousin a text noting that you recommend not buying it and will not lend or give money to fix it when it breaks.
Those are endless money pits and it’s out of warranty. Tell the cousin to pass on it; otherwise, they are going to have to learn the hard way.

That car is only worth 3,000 to 7,000 average. It all depends on mileage and condition. If it has more then 165,000 it's worth around 4,500 if that You didn't tell us that info so I cannot be detailed. But I do know German cars very well. Tell him stay away. Once German cars have more then 100,000 or are 10 years or more old everything goes bad. Best case he buy it and only has to drop 1 Grand a year to fix. The middle ground is 3 Grand a year to fix. Worst Case transmission or engine blew up within the first Year.
A 17-year-old Audi Cabriolet with a 4.2 V8 and some extra complexity with the electronics and $13 grand. Your cousin would have to be absolutely insane to buy that thing and keep up with the constant breakdowns and repairs.
