[Solved] Cracked brake caliper?

Hello,

I usually had my car serviced at the Ford dealer (Fiesta VI), now that the car is out of warranty and the dealer asks min 500€ for literally anything (part and fluids prices there are 4 times the aftermarket ones) I started working on it myself.

Did brake pads and rotors today and (let aside that one hub was greased and the other was not, and the brake fluid they flushed earlier this year was overfilled even if my pads were at 20%) noticed the left caliper has a small crack.

See images, do you think that creates a weakspot and it needs replaced? Or is it fine to use?

Thanks in advance!

I would definitely replace it but heck you can go to places like AutoZone and buy them. You don't have to buy them at the expensive dealer

@scottykilmer Thanks Scotty! Here in EU we have AutoDoc which is basically the same (buy online), I already found a replacement for 50€ and will replace it when it arrives!

I don't think it's a crack . Looks fine to me.

@imperator Thanks for the answer, yeah it doesn't look terrible but I fear it will grow thanks to heat + potholes and break off that piece, cast iron is very hard but also becomes brittle when damaged

brake calipers aren't load bearing so potholes do not affect them. The calipers have lasted this long, and will probably out last your vehicle.
