Hi Scotty, I have a 2003 base crown Vic with 134,000 miles on it. There is a rattle from the passenger rear wheel. What do you think it is?

is there a stone trapped in the rim?

Could it be a bad emergency brake shoe?

only one way to find out

I took the shoe off and a bunch of broken plastic pieces fell to the ground. Any idea on what it could be?

I don't know. I'm not aware of any plastic parts inside of wheels. Maybe you picked up on the road. Can you post a link to a photo?

Make sure your lug nuts are tight. I’ve had rattle before that was just a couple of loose ones. Probably the easiest thing to check so start there

Hi Scotty, my 2003 Ford crown Vic passenger side rear wheel squeaks over bumps and now has a kind of rattle noise that is off and on. What could it be?

Ps I changed the parking brake shoe a while back.

check underneath the car first to see if you have a loose heat shield for the exhaust pr any loose part that makes noise.
You should also check the suspension parts and brakes. Hope this helps:

Hi Scotty, my 2003 crown Vic with 138k miles and it has a rattle in the rear passenger wheel and I don’t know what it is. The brake shoes are good. I thought it was a loose brake pad (the one on the piston) and extended the arms on the back of it that hold it in place and it didn’t fix it. The rattle is frequent but not all the time. What do you think it is?

thanks

Swap the back tires with the front ones and see if the rattle follows. If so, the tires are the issue.

Check for cracked rubber bushings all around.

Hi Scotty, my 2003 Crown Vic with 139,000 miles has a rattle at certain RPMs around 1800 it’s fine before and fine after. I cut my back two cats off the other week since there are four and was wondering what it could be. I also checked to see if the cats were tight and they are. Thanks

Sounds like it’s coming from around the cat area
