Hi scotty and friends, I have 06 crown Victoria interceptor w 455,000miles best car ever owned running strong orginal engine and trans using for taxi never leave me stranded but few days ago lost my reverse checked fluid level are good little dark not smell burned haven't change over 300,000miles but when parked overnight first start up in morning has reverse like was never damaged then after drove around 30mins put in reverse nothing felt like same as in neutral i changed the neutral safety switch but it's not it couple of mechanics told me need new trans but all other gears are fine on highway flying over 80mph pick bogus won't even touch nose hair im thinking change trans fluid and the three solenoid inside maybe will get my reverse back really don't have $ for new trans now please tell me what do u think it is ? There is a chance that it could be the torque converter but in all likelihood it is the transmission. However, instead of replacing the transmission you could avoid backing and if you have to back up just put it in neutral and push it back.


Ha-ha! That reminded me of the time I had an Opel GT (small 2-seater) & the cable lock on the gear shift for reverse, broke. I used my left foot out the door & pushed it backwards to reverse out.

with that mileage unfortunately I would assume you're transmission reverse has gone out I see that many time in Ford product says they age and you have to strip the whole transmission and rebuild it because the internals are breaking down
