About me. I’m a Master tech and do this for a living. I should know better then mess with this 2006 2wd freestyle. It was a family member who passed and I get the car. Has 149k on it. Car drove very well. Every once in awhile the wrench light would come on and go into limp mode. I can’t remember the original code I would have to dig through my scanner to get. But I did see the tcm was dropping out on a test drive. So I got a reman Tcm valve body and installed it flashed it. Now my original code is gone but I have a new code. It’s a p1710. Complete BS code. And the trouble tree basically says diagnosis by symptom. The symptom is slamming into gear. I put the old tcm back in and it now has the same code. What could have changed? Grounds look great. Nobody will help me when they here the word cvt. I did see people having the same problem on the internet but I can’t find one that has the answer. Your my last hope Scotty.
I think @dan has more experience with this
@MountainManJoe , It's some electrical fault inside of a rare and s**** ZF unit. I don't think that anyone has a clue on how they actually work.
Yeah those zfs are great transmissions when they work but when they break really nobody knows how to fix them. But since it did it after you replace the module and then when you put the old module in it still has the same code I would assume there is either a wiring problem going between the module in the transmission or somehow the internals got damaged when you swapped stuff out they use very little power and any minor lose connection or frayed wire or wire they got broken plug and things in and out could do that.
Thanks guys I will look at my pins and see if they have tension and clean
Loaded tested powers and grounds and where good. I guess I will have to scrap it. What a waist
