CVT leaked

Dear Scotty,

I have 2015 Altima with 161,050 miles. since I changed the CVT transmission fluid, it leaked a bit and I wasn't able to measure, I wonder if I could remove the fluid and add the correct level instead waiting for 30,000 miles.

Well, since it's a seal transmission, it's very hard to figure out the correct amount of fluid you need inside. If it had never leaked you could drain out, measure what drains out then put that same amount back in. But as yours is leak your best to pay a mechanic with specialized equipment to do the job

Hi,

For now, just add fluid - no need to remove it.

It’s really not that hard to set the correct fluid level on a modern transmission.

Get the $20 Nissan tool, make sure you see ATF temp on your scanner - and just follow the instructions.

It’s simple, that “sealed” tranny is earlier to set the correct fluid level in than regular ones with the dipstick.

Good luck!
